Where Does He Come Up With This Stuff??

Wednesday, September 2, 2009

So me and Ayize hit El Tipico to grab grub with G-Ball last night. The minute G walked in and sat down, Ayize grinned and pointed to the neon-lit Corona sign behind G's head and carefully intoned, "Beer."
"Huh??" we exclaimed in unison.
So he said it again, carefully pronouncing the "r" at the end, "Beer. Beer. Beer," followed by some maniacal laughing.
Now, no one in Ayize's daily life drinks, and neither of us had spoken the B word at all. Where does he come up with this stuff??
Anyway, dinner was great, and he shocked G with his insane appeitite, downing a whole bowl of noodles, tofu and veggies, then a bagful of grapes, a small bowl of blueberries, rice and guacamole, a bunch of chips, etc. But he spoke nary a word for the rest of dinner.
We got home and my parents greeted him with hugs and kisses (and more food -- he downed three green olives with pimentos and a bunch of orange slices. Will wonders never cease??). Then my mom asked him, "How was your dinner, Ayize? Did you have fun? What did you do with Mommy?" and of course, as if on cue, he grinned slyly, looked right at me, and exclaimed, "BEER!" at the top of his tiny lungs.
My poor parents were stunned.

  1. Too funny! I agree, where do they get it? Elliott has been saying FUH FUH a lot these days...Su and I are appalled and hope he never finishes his sentence. LOL In our case, we are slightly guilty, but he's only 10 months old! Too funny.

  2. Hilarious!! What a funny story. You know he's going to keep saying it too now that he's gotten a good reaction. :)

  3. Diane -- awesome! I don't feel so bad now! LOL! I AM guilty, but fortunately, he has not picked up any of my trash talk...YET!
Sarah -- Totally, right?? He has a pretty decent sense of comic timing too, so I'm waiting to see which inconvenient moment he'll pick to bust it out again!

My new boss says, "Mom is..."

My Photo
Giving it my all every day, trying to do a job meant for two people to share. There are ups, there are downs. But my fantabulous kid makes the downs bearable and the ups immeasurable. Ayize, you're the greatest! I love you with all my heart!!! For more whining and ranting, and a better profile descript than I could possibly fit here, see the June 3, 2009 post entitled "The 168 Hour Work Week". Thanks for stopping by!
