Back in Business

June 16, 2009

After two weeks of non-stop fun with various house guests, today was our re-entry to normal life. For the most part, things seemed to be cruising along on an even keel...

Ayize spent the morning horsing around with the girls, including a his-n-hers trike swap with Kayla

followed by some lounging in the hammock with Kai

before moving on to Bee's house, where he terrorized little Evan and the others by hurling large objects around (he's just learning about balls and loves to experiment with gravity, mostly at other peoples' expense)

then he apologized by hugging all the wee ones, like Miss Sophie here

and finally, we headed out for a rainy walk around the block and some puddle-stomping. After a grocery run through the drenching rain, it was finally time to head home for dinner.
Ayize has been doing a fantastic job of feeding himself lately, and has had a voracious appetite to boot, both of which I've been feeling quite self-satisfied about (always a fatal flaw). Things started out swimmingly...

But then God, the Buddah, Allah, Gaia et. al. saw fit to smote me from my high horse. So when I turned my back for just a few minutes to wash up the pots and pans, he surprised me by doing this...

I sooo deserved it though. It's always good to remember that with Ayize around, today's smug celebration is a piece of tomorrow's humble pie!

On a decidedly cheesier note -- a special shout-out to my brother Jo Jo who visited from Portland, to godfather Peter who drove up from St. Louie, and to the inimitable Tomppa, hailing from Helsinki (by way of Manhattan), who made the long haul over here just to spend a few days with my little man and me. A better time could not have been had! And Ayize was so super psyched to be "hanging with the boys" the past two weeks!
I love and miss you all so much already! I know I speak for Ayize too when I say thanks so much for coming, we had an awesome time, and we hope to see you guys again soon!

My new boss says, "Mom is..."

My Photo
Giving it my all every day, trying to do a job meant for two people to share. There are ups, there are downs. But my fantabulous kid makes the downs bearable and the ups immeasurable. Ayize, you're the greatest! I love you with all my heart!!! For more whining and ranting, and a better profile descript than I could possibly fit here, see the June 3, 2009 post entitled "The 168 Hour Work Week". Thanks for stopping by!
